International Women’s Day - what it means to us
International Women’s Day traces its roots back to 1908 when 15,000 women marched through New York demanding shorter working hours, better pay and the right to vote.
114 years later we can celebrate the role of women in every facet of working life.
International Women’s Day is a fantastic opportunity for everyone across the Aviation, Urban Air Mobility and Uncrewed Aerial Vehicle industries to come together and make an impact through celebrating the past, taking action in the present and focusing on future challenges.
Whilst amazing progress has been made over the past century, sadly, the fight for women's rights is still necessary. The original aim of the day – to achieve full gender equality for women around the world – has not yet been realised. We are confronted daily with stories of women being the victim of misogynistic and inappropriate behaviour in their workplace as well as public spaces, where they are discriminated against, and stereotypes applied.
Now, more than ever, there's a strong call-to-action to press forward and accelerate gender equality. Our challenge is to #BreakTheBias.
Today, we’re reminded as children we are allowed to dream, to imagine one day we may go into space and reach for the stars, to become an author and write a book, or to lead a country as its Prime Minister or President.
We owe it to ourselves, our mothers, our sisters, and our daughters to never give up on those dreams. Because dreams do come true.
What will you do to #BreakTheBias on International Women’s Day?
